There’s a double helping of local history from The Vauxhall Society/Vauxhall History on Monday 2 September.
At 2.30pm David E. Coke, the leading historian of Vauxhall Gardens, leads a guided walk, entitled The Heyday of Vauxhall Gardens, to mark the month that this open-air resort would close.
Then at 7pm Vauxhall Society chairman Ross Davies, author of Vauxhall: A Little History, will give an illustrated lecture, Samuel Johnson and the Lambeth Mysteries.
No booking is necessary and both walk and talk are free, although a £5 donation (which goes to the Friends of the Tate South Lambeth Library) is welcome.
